Uniform Guidelines
TMSA’s uniform policy supports our commitment to a focused, inclusive, and professional learning environment — where students can concentrate on discovery, growth, and community rather than fashion trends.
Key Highlights
-
Logo-embroidered shirts: All students are required to wear polo or dress shirts featuring the TMSA official logo while on campus. Non-TMSA sweatshirts (or un-logoed outerwear) are not permitted inside classrooms or hallways.
-
Color and grade-level distinctions:
-
Elementary (K-5): Burgundy polo or dress shirt, with matching burgundy outerwear (no hoodies).
-
Middle School (6-8): Light blue polo or dress shirt, navy/light-blue outerwear. Eighth graders may have a customized sweatshirt on approved days.
-
High School (9-12): Black polo or dress shirt, black outerwear. Seniors may have a customized sweatshirt (Seniors only) on approved days.
-
-
Bottoms (K-12): Solid-color pants, shorts, skirts or skorts in black, khaki or navy. Jeans, cargo styles, leggings (as bottoms), capris, sweat-pants, and athletic wear are not permitted. Shorts, skirts and skorts must be no shorter than three inches above the knee, even when worn with tights.
-
Footwear & accessories:
-
Footwear must be closed-toe, properly secured (laces tied, straps fastened). Open-toed shoes, flip-flops, Crocs, platform shoes, or heels over 1″ are not allowed.
-
Belts must be plain (black, white, blue or brown), fit properly and not hang down when buckled. Large buckles are prohibited.
-
-
Personal Appearance: The uniform must be clean, neat, free of tears or rips, and worn properly (shirts tucked, pants pulled up). Hairstyles, hair color, jewelry, tattoos, and piercings should reflect a respectful, safe, and non-distracting school environment. Fashion “fads” that disrupt learning may be banned at the administration’s discretion.
-
Outerwear: Hats, caps, and other headwear may not be worn inside school buildings. Outer jackets, windbreakers, ski jackets etc must not be worn or carried from class to class; only approved school-logo sweatshirts or fleece jackets may be worn.
-
PE Uniform (Grades 6-12): During physical education classes, students must wear a solid-colored gray top (TMSA-approved) and athletic bottoms (mesh/cotton shorts or sweatpants). Athletic-type shoes (not skate shoes) and solid colored socks are required; clothing must allow for vigorous movement.
Why It Matters
By wearing a unified, professional standard of dress, TMSA students demonstrate their readiness to learn, their respect for the school community, and their alignment with TMSA’s mission of Science • Wisdom • Peace. The uniform policy helps minimize distractions, supports equity among students, and reinforces the focused learning culture we value.
